We are Lev Tov Match. We are a data controller in respect of information you provide to us (i.e. the organisation making decisions about how and why your personal information is used). We are registered with the Information Commissioners Office under registration ZB848263.
We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about what information we hold, whether you are a Lev Tov Friend or their Parent, Guardian or representative, a member of our team, or as someone who provides services to us. This privacy notice is for our Lev Tov Friends, their Parent, Guardian or representative and those who support our Lev Tov Friends in their community.
The purpose of this policy is to give you a clear explanation about how we collect and use the personal information you provide to us, whether online, via phone, email, in letters or in any other correspondence or from third parties. We ensure that we use your information in accordance with all applicable laws concerning the protection of personal information.
If you are one of our members or a dependent of one of our members, this Privacy Notice applies to you as we act as the ‘data controller’ of your personal data. This means we determine how and why your personal data is processed.
Processing your information in accordance with the law means:

How we get the personal information and why we have it
We collect and process your data for different reasons in different circumstances, but we’ll only collect and process your data where we have a legal basis for doing so. Our purposes and legal basis for using each type of data are set out below.
Personal data may be provided to us by you directly, or it may be provided to us from other sources, and we have shared below a variety of examples of when and why we process personal information. This list is not exhaustive, and due to the nature of our services there may be times when new categories of personal information may be shared with us for new and evolving reasons, and as a result, we keep this policy under constant review.

For example, this may include when we send communications relating to your match. These may be sent by email or post or, if the circumstances require it, we may contact you by phone or via an online chat; when we provide you with information about you, or your dependents’ support or assistance from us; when we cross-check against any applications received to assess that their application is valid; in all cases, verify your status with a third party such as your Rabbi, and or, other community based organisations or people that provide support to you, in order to determine eligibility, and where we process you, or your dependents’, application and to make a decision about whether to provide the requested match, support or assistance to you, or your dependents
- We have a legal obligation. For example, where processing is necessary in order for us to meet our requirements under legislation, this may include, disclosing basic personal information to the authorities, or to provide information to law enforcement organisations or the Courts, where we are legally required to do so, or where we are legally required hold information for audit purposes
- We have a legitimate interest. For example, where it is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests, except where our interests are overridden by the interests, rights or freedoms of affected individuals (such as you). For example, this may include, where we pass your details onto a named third party, such as your Rabbi where you have made an application for a match; ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer; provide you with general information and updates about Lev Tov; notify you about changes to Lev Tov, the services we provide or to the support or assistance that we may be able to provide; provide you with information about and invitations to the activities and events of Lev Tov, informing people about meetings and informing and reminding people about the existence of Lev Tov; send you a newsletter by post. If you do not want us to use your data in this way, please contact us at . When we process your personal information in this way, we also consider and balance any potential impact on you (both positive and negative), and your rights under data protection laws. We will not use your information for activities where our interests are overridden by the impact on you, for example where collection and use of your information would be excessively intrusive (unless, for instance, we are otherwise required or permitted to by law). The type of personal information we collect
To be able to provide you with services and support from Lev Tov we must process your personal data. The type of personal data we collect depends on the way you interact and use the Lev Tov services for example accessing our services in order to facilitate a Lev Tov Friend match may be a different experience than interacting with us as a parent or guardian of a Lev Tov Friend.
We may collect and process the following personal data from you;
- Information you give us. You may give us information about you by filling in forms on our site or by corresponding with us by phone, e-mail, post, in person, in our online meeting facility, or otherwise. This includes information you provide when you submit an application to us for a match, support or assistance, make enquiries about your application or about Lev Tov, make complaints, and when you report a problem with our site. The information you give us may include your name, address, e-mail address and phone number, financial information, medical information, personal description, photograph, marriage certificate, or birth certificate. You may also provide us with information relating to specific legal arrangements such as your Legal Representative or Lasting Power of Attorney.
- Information given about others. Where an application for a match is made by a parent or guardian, they will be giving us information about you. As a parent or guarding, you must make sure the other person is made aware and is referred directly to this policy.
- Information we collect from your use of our website. With regard to each of your visits to our site we may automatically collect the following information:
- technical information, including the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, browser type and version, device details;
- information about your visit, including how you interact with our pages, page response times, and forms you have submitted (including contents of the entered fields, and date and time).
- Information we receive from other sources. Where you have made an application for a match, we may collect information about you from your Rabbi, or other organisations or individuals who support you within your community.
Special categories of personal data
Some categories of personal information are regarded by the law as more sensitive than others. This is known as ‘special category’ or ‘sensitive personal data’ and covers things like information about your health, ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions or any genetic or biometric data that is used to identify you. We may also ask about criminal convictions and spent convictions as part of our verification process.
Given the purpose of the organisation is to support the Jewish Community, we will be collecting sensitive personal data about your religion. We require your explicit consent in order to do this and this is obtained when you complete the application form, or otherwise provide us with sensitive personal information. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time. If you do not wish to provide consent, or if you wish to withdraw your consent, then we will not be able to process or accept your application for a match, or our support or services.
We may also process this type of information for monitoring equal opportunities, managing health and safety obligations, managing our safeguarding obligations, among other reasons. The information you choose to share with us may consist of special category personal data comprising details of any disability or other health information you wish to share with us.
We will always make it clear when we collect this information from you what sensitive personal data we are collecting and why.
Information sharing
Where necessary and in accordance with data protection legislation we share information internally within Lev Tov and with third parties as required and where we have a legal basis to do so.
We share information where there is a legal, regulatory or professional obligation to disclose your personal information, in order to apply the relevant rules and/or to protect the rights or safety of our Lev Tov Friends past and present, and members of our team.
We may also be required to share information with Statutory and Regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies and courts, or in the event of a transfer or acquisition of all or a part of our organisation.
Sometimes we might share your data with third parties. This could include:
- Engaging third-party service providers to perform a variety of business operations on our behalf. For example, our principle partner Amanda and Martin Port Foundation, our IT service provider, legal counsel for the provision of legal advice and guidance.
- Those providing support to you within the community, including for the purpose of processing your application and making a decision about your match, or requested support or assistance;
- Jewish organisations where you have made an application for a match;
- Regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies and courts.
- In the event of a sale of all or a part of our organisation, the buyer and its professional advisers.
- If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal or regulatory obligation, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our company, our beneficiaries, employees, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
Third party (sub processor) organisations
For our general day to day data processing activities, we use third party organisations or systems to help us administer, deliver and monitor the services we provide:
- for the provision of IT and software services (e.g. Microsoft who provide our office software) to enable the management of the charity and office administration
- for the provision of contact and customer management services, we use HubSpot, whose services are subject to their own privacy policy, accessible here: https://legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy.
- for financial transactions and accounting
- to help us improve our organisation
- for the administration of our website and online platforms
- for any legal & regulatory guidance in the provision of our services
Access to your personal information is only allowed when required by the law or is required as part our fulfilling our service obligations. We do not, and will never, sell your personal information to other third parties.
International transfers
Where we have partners and service providers based outside of the UK (e.g. Microsoft for our IT Services), your personal data may be accessed or otherwise processed in other countries. We have implemented measures and safeguards to ensure that any transfer of data is compliant with our data protection laws. For example, we ensure that Standard Contractual Clauses or International Data Transfer Agreements that are approved by the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), the UK Government and/or European Commission after carrying out a detailed assessment to ensure the companies receiving your data can comply with these Clauses. Keeping your information safe and secure
We are committed to keeping personal information secure to protect it from being inappropriately or accidentally accessed, used, shared or destroyed, and against it being lost. We endeavour to ensure that our suppliers take similar steps to keep your data secure. We take organisational measures to keep information secure and provide regular training for staff on data protection.
How long we keep your data
We will only keep your information for as long as necessary to perform our obligations and to fulfil the original processing purpose. Based on the legal basis we may need to keep some information for longer i.e., to comply with tax and accounting law and in some cases, we will anonymise your information so that it can no longer be associated with you. When establishing our Retention Schedule, we consider the legal basis, sensitivity of information, the type of information and once the retention period has ended how we deal with the information.
Keeping your data correct
We are committed to keeping your information up to date. If you believe that we have made an error, then please contact us as we have outlined below, and we will use reasonable endeavours to correct.
Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
- Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
- Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
- Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
- Your rights in relation to automated decision making & profiling – As a matter of principle, you have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling. However, we may automate such a decision if it is necessary for the entering into or performance of a contract between us, authorised by law or regulation or if you have given your explicit consent. However, we do not currently make any decisions by automated means.
You are not usually required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have a calendar month to respond to you.
Where requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive, in particular because they are repetitive, we may charge a reasonable fee taking into account the administrative costs of providing the information or we may also refuse to provide the information. Where we refuse a request, we will explain our reasons for the refusal and remind you of your right to complain.

Lev Tov Match disclaims any liability for personal, emotional, or financial consequences resulting from these connections. Always exercise good judgment and prioritise your safety when meeting new people.
7.2 Except for any legal responsibility that we cannot exclude in law (such as for death or personal injury) or arising under applicable laws relating to the protection of your personal information, we are not legally responsible for any:
7.2.1 losses that were not foreseeable to you and us when these terms were formed;
7.2.2 losses that were not caused by any breach on our part;
7.2.3 business losses; and

Our mission is to create a welcoming space where individuals can form meaningful relationships.
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your (“you” or the “user”) access to and use of the Platform, including any services, functionality, and content offered through https://www.levtovmatch.com/ (collectively, the “Service”). - You identify as Halachically Jewish, or you meet the religious eligibility criteria set out by Lev Tov Match.
- You experience or identify with a disability, autism, or additional needs as relevant to the Service’s specific focus.
1.3 Authority to Enter into These Terms
You represent and warrant that you have the right, authority, and capacity to enter into these Terms on behalf of yourself or the entity you represent.
2 Use of the Service

You agree not to use the Service in a way that:

- Is fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive.

12.2 Litigation
Should any disputes or claims arise, any action must be brought in the courts of England and Wales, unless you are a consumer and live in either Northern Ireland or Scotland. In which case, you can choose to bring a claim in England and Wales or in the courts of another part of the United Kingdom in which you live, and users consent to the jurisdiction of these courts.
13 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
14 No Waiver
No failure or delay by Lev Tov Match in exercising any right under these Terms shall operate as a waiver of that right or any other right.
15 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other legal notices published on our Platform, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lev Tov Match regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter herein.
